Arne RSPB Nature Reserve
This is an unusual and special landscape where you can enjoy a vast expanse of open heathland and old oak woodland. Arne is a fantastic place for family walks at any time of year and we have regular children’s days that enable all the family to learn about the unique nature of the heaths.
Avocet, Dartford Warbler, Little Egret, Nightjar and Stonechat are some of the most exciting species you may see on a visit to the Arne reserve.
Enjoy wonderful views of Poole Harbour, Brownsea and Furzey Islands.
Blue Pool
The Blue Pool at Furzebrook constantly varies in colour. Very fine clay in suspension in the water diffacting light in different ways producing a spectrum of colour sometimes green sometimes turquoise.
Set in a deep clay bowl steps lead down to the waters edge or up to views of the Purbeck Hills, The Pool is surrounded by 25 acres of heath woodland and gorse interlaced with sandy paths that seem to take you to another world.
There is a tearoom serving fresh scones and tea.
Corfe Common & Village
Enjoy views of Corfe Castle from a different angle. Corfe Common is a very peaceful place for a walk or picnic. The traditional village of Corfe has some wonderful pubs and old fashioned shops as well as a steam railway station where you can catch a steam train to Swanage.
There is also a model village of Corfe Castle for those not energetic enough for the real thing!
Hartland Moor
Hartland Moor is between Corfe Castle and Arne and a very short drive from the hotel. Ideal for a picnic or a walk. Enjoy wonderful views of Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour and get off the beaten track.
Studland Heath
The heathland at Studland is a wonderful place for a walk whatever time of year you are visiting. It is largely managed by the RSPB and is home to a host of birds and wildlife. You will see many species of wading birds and waterfowl at the reedbeds of Littlesea and many others on the heathland.
Agglestone Rock is nearby too and is worth a visit.
Wareham Forest
Wareham forest is one of the less known landscapes in the North Purbeck Area!
Ideal for mountain bike riding, walking or horse riding.

The healthy slopes of Woolsbarrow Hill Fort are an important wildlife habitat, but the species it supports are sensitive to disturbance and tend to be elusive. You will be likey to see grey squirrels and deer though. Other species inclde the nightjar, dartford warbler, treecreepers, and woodlark.
Wareham Forest is just a 3 or 4 minute drive from The Springfield.
